A collection of Recipes with Mudakkathan Keerai as the star ingredient.
Mudakkathan Keerai / Mudakathan Keerai or Balloon vein leaves is a creeper plant / herb with a lot of health benefits!
The name is actually from the term – Mudakku + Atraan, meaning it prevents the immobility of the joints.Over time, it came to be called mudakkathan.
This is a green leafy vegetable that grows extensively in the rural areas,in
almost everybody’s backyard. Until a couple of month’s ago, this didn’t grow in our backyard, but we were fortunate enough to get these from the farmers market where the produce comes mostly from the rural areas around here.
I spotted this plant on the road side and plucked out a small plant and planted it. It grows so easily and does not require too much care! Now that we have this herb growing in our backyard I use this in our cooking.
It tastes a little bitter when eaten raw but when it is made into a dish or added to a dish, the bitter taste disappears.
Some of the health benefits.
