One of the best choices to make a colorful dish is to incorporate colorful veggies into it! And that’s exactly what I did in this colorful Beetroot Godhuami[Wheat] Dosai Recipe!

Instead of adding beetroot to the dosa batter as I did for Carrot Dosa, I added it to the Karacha Maavu Dosai Batter..

The recipe is pretty straight forward. I added grated beetroot to the watery batter and made the dosa. The best part is that the taste of beets is not very profound. In fact my daughter said that it looked like I added edible color to the batter and that there was not much of beets taste! So this is a great recipe to feed kids who don’t like vegetables!

A colorful and Instantdosa recipe with beets.

Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: Indian
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup White rava
  • 1/4 cup Besan
  • 1/2 cup Rice Flour
  • 1/2 cup Grated Beetroot
  • 1/4 cup Finely chopped onion
  • A handful Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, take the flours and add salt.Mix well

  2. Add water and prepare a lump free batter.[ I used a whisk and using a whisk works really well than using a ladle to mix.]

  3. Add the beetroot, onion, coriander and cumin seeds.Mix well.Let it rest for 10 minutes / till you prepare chutney/ side dish

  4. Heat a dosa pan and pour the batter like we do for rava dosa.Cover and cook for a few seconds.

  5. Carefully flip it over and cook on the other side too.

  6. Serve immediately with a side of your choice.

Recipe Notes
  • Let the dosa cook fully before flipping it. The edges of the dosa will leave the pan and its best to wait till then.
  • Cook on medium flame.
  • You can also add chopped ginger / green chilies, coarsely crushed pepper to up the spice level.
